Field Research : Visiting school canteens and doing observations during lunch time

As I navigate the lively French school canteens, my mission is crystal clear: absorb the pulse of each space, the dance of choices at lunchtime, and the silent conversations between students and their meals. My designer's lens focuses sharply on the unsaid—the pause before a selection, the interactions that spark curiosity. Each observation is a puzzle piece, revealing how nutrition education weaves into daily life and where design can turn routine into revelation. This isn't mere observation; it’s the collection of insights that will sculpt the designs shaping tomorrow's mindful eaters. It's here, amid the clatter of trays and chatter, where I gather the essence of my work: design that doesn't just sit pretty but lives, breathes, and speaks in the language of its users.

After the research phase, I identified some goals for this project. The solution must be :

Fairytales enchant the young mind, making them a powerful tool in food education. They offer a rich tapestry of characters and plots that can be woven into stories promoting healthy eating. Their narrative structure enables complex concepts like nutrition to be simplified into engaging tales. The moral lessons intrinsic to fairytales can parallel the benefits of healthy eating, while their imaginative settings inspire children to explore and try new foods. By integrating the timeless appeal of fairytales into UX/UI design, we create a magical and interactive learning environment that captivates and educates, making the path to wise food choices not just informative but also delightfully memorable.

Do we see changes thanks to Fairytales ?

“Behavior change will occur over the long term.
What is good with my students this year is that I've seen them evolve since last year.

It is through repeatedly encountering, seeing, and discussing fairy tales that change will happen.
